The Jeffrey Building in Columbus was renovated by JDS Inc. of Columbus, Ohio and opened in June of 2007. I was commissioned by JDS to create three large scale paintings for the entrance lobby to this structure which had been converted into residential use. The original building was occupied by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company known for its production of equipment for the coal mine industry. In keeping with this theme I used landscape elements associated with mining practices and Ohio's landscape. In contrast to the architectural details in the lobby I chose to emphasize the natural elements of rock, landscape surfaces and illusionistic space. The color palette I used also enhanced and integrated with the materials and surfaces of this interior space.
